When I first started practicing yoga, I was attached to a high octane practice where I was focused on what I could “do”. The harder, the faster the practice, the better. My practice now focuses on restoring, rather than depleting the body, mind and spirit. This is achieved with focused breath work, movement targeting strength, flexibility and mobility, as well as meditation. Translated into my teaching style, I work with my students to find the most appropriate yoga approach based on their needs at that particular time. Yoga can provide relief from the hectic nature of modern life. Restorative yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation encourage a turning inward of the senses. This provides essential downtime for the nervous system by withdrawing the senses from the outer world in order to recognize the sensations of your inner world. The challenge is not to do more in our already hectic lifestyles, but to add a healthy approach to slowing down. I look forward to practicing with you. Namaste, Krista
TESTIMONIALS
“I am an active retired physical therapist and I love the yoga class that Krista Sanderson offers. The pace is perfect and has an excellent balance of flexibility and strengthening, consistent with all the principles of movement science. My nagging hip pain disappeared after the 3rd class. The pace is perfect for me and she has a gift of giving just the right amount of direction. My mind is fully engaged during the entire class which starts and ends on time. I would highly recommend this class to anyone.” Carol – Bigfork, MT
"Krista was my first yoga teacher, approximately 15 years ago, and remains my favorite instructor to date. In my experience, her gentle flow approach adapts well to an aging body and injuries. Guided by her natural warmth and positive encouragement, her sessions are genuinely suitable for all levels. I emerge from each of her sessions with enhanced movement throughout my body, a calmed mind and uplifted spirit. Thank you, Krista." Jane – Bigfork, MT
"Walking into Krista’s yoga class you immediately feel at peace seeing her smiling, welcoming calm face. The lights are dim or off, the music is so meditative\soothing with Krista starting the class having everyone lying on their mats with directive breathing for about fifteen minutes. Her yoga poses are easy to follow with her excellent cuing and work almost every part of the body. You end up walking out feeling relaxed and refreshed." Jan L – Bigfork, MT
"A big thanks to Krista which is a God-send. She is a well trained, knowledgeable Yoga instructor. I feel fortunate to practice at such a welcoming studio (Swan River Community Hall). I travel 40 minutes from a Whitefish address 2 days a week for her classes. Her exacting alignment cues and careful guidance are not only helpful, but truly welcomed. I only wish she had more days of classes on her schedule! " Linda A - Tucson, AZ
"Doing yoga with Krista is a wonderful experience. Her voice is so calming and she is such an encouraging soul, continually challenging us to the next level. She is quick to scan the class for anyone who might need a position modification but never calls attention to a struggle. I am constantly amazed at her kindness, her warmth, her skill, and her commitment to all of us. BEST TEACHER EVER!!" Jill M - Bigfork, MT
"Krista has the best yoga teaching voice I know. Her music is a lovely complement without detracting from her teaching. She is careful and skillful and teaches classes beneficial to all levels. She takes her yoga seriously but with a light heart. As a 25+ year practitioner of yoga, I feel comfortable inviting all to Krista’s classes.." Beth M - Bigfork, MT
